Neo Victorian Jewelry is simply “New Victorian Jewelry”. Neo Victorian has a romantic design with baroque curves, just as it did during Victoria's reign. The jewelry of her time was a lavish mixture of older styles such as Gothic, Renaissance, and Etruscan. These were all in vogue and incorporated in the designs of her time. England had a new young queen, she was beautiful. And because of her style, there was a renewed interest in jewelry, as well as, other finer things. The cut steel industry was blossoming with an industrial awakening. Factories were beginning to mass produce jewelry, inventing machine stamping and electroplating. Now materials, other than gold, could be used to manufacture quality jewelry, at a fraction of a price. Beautiful pieces emerged and electroplated brass was stamped, into filigree, lockets, chain, and ornate pieces such as birds and vines. These elaborate pieces where often set with imitations of precious stones. Now the working class could afford beautiful jewelry pieces and feel special like Victoria. Technically, Victorian jewelry was jewelry made during her reign from 1837 to 1901. But her style continued on into Art Nouveau, Edwardian, and beyond. Her style is never really gone or forgotten. And Neo Victorian just means she's back.
